Kizer Prime Ichthyo Knife

Never heard of Kizer but they offer a wide range of knives. On test is their Prime Ichthyo, a medium weight folder and it looks good. The frame is titanium as is the clothing clip with aggressively textured G10 scales in an attractive brown and black pattern reminiscent of a fossil.

The blade is a 3.5” drop point with a deep, facetted shape made of CPM-S35 VN steel with a hardness of 58-60. There’s jimping on the spine and frame to give extra purchase and twin opening studs. Locking is by a discrete liner in the forward finger cut-out. Deployment is by either the studs or an integral flipper, which is a nice option, equally so the flipper when deployed acts as a half guard.

The handle fills the hand and is neither too large nor small. The frame is open-topped so little chance of the build up of debris inside, plus this stainless and titanium build is easily washed! The Ichthyo weighs 5.19oz and is 8.43” open and 5” closed. The clothing clip only offers one position, which gives that essential tip-up carry for fast and easy deployment. Kizer also includes a digital camo zipper case. If this example of their range is anything to go by they will be well worth a second look!
