SharpnEasy Knife Sharpener

To re-sharpen your knife out in the field you need something that’s portable as well as quick and easy to use. Plus, of course, it needs to be capable of putting a decent edge on the blade.

story continues below...

The SharpNEasy has two sets of ceramic rods, one coarse and one fine, pre-set at angles to give you a very sharp edge. Three or four strokes through the coarse set will sharpen the blade and then a few strokes through the fine rods will polish and smooth the sharpened edge. The hexagonal shape allows you to rest the sharpener on a suitable surface, while the rubberised grip panels on both sides provide a good firm hold with either hand. This means that you can sharpen your knife safely with a stable grip and your fingers well out of the way.

The tool is very easy to use and, unlike some pullthrough type sharpeners, it does not strip loads of shavings of metal from your knife. The edge it produces is not super-fine but it is sharp and durable, ideal for general purpose knives. At less than a tenner, this is a great little piece of kit for maintaining a sharp edge out in the field and it feels very safe to use. It’s well worth investing in.
