Spyderco Manix 2

Spyderco Manix 2

The Manix is a large folder with stainless steel liners and G10 handles, however there are those who perhaps would like the same layout in a handier package.

If so the Manix 2 is a consideration as it’s 42% lighter weighing only 3oz,, while the dimensions are slightly reduced.

The flat-ground, CTS BD1 stainless, leaf-shaped blade with forward choil and large 14mm opening hole is 3.37”. There’s jimping on the back to offer thumb purchase. The all-synthetic, FRCP handle features a wire clothing clip and Bi-Directional Texturing. It’s well shaped and locks it into the hand.

Locking is by Spyderco’s patented Ball Bearing mechanism. This high-strength lock consists of a ball bearing within a polymer cage. When the knife is opened, a spring-loaded steel plunger drives the ball forward to wedge between a ramp on the blade and an anvil in the handle’s steel insert. Drawing it rearwards releases the lock and allows it to close smoothly. Smooth, strong, and easily operated, the lock is ambidextrous.

Overall this is a nice little reduced version of the original Manix that gives nothing away!

The Manix 2 Blk Pin is priced at £74.95. Edgar Bros. are the official UK distributors for Spyderco, and our test knife was kindly supplied by online retailer Heinnie Haynes, 033 0300 0400, www.heinnie.com
