Stryke Pants are hard wearing practical trousers that look more ‘street fashionable’ than some of 5.11’s other offerings, but still with all the function, comfort and durability that the company are famous for.
The Stryke trousers are made from 5.11’s exclusive new proprietary fabric, “Flex-Tac”. Flex-Tac is a lightweight breathable polycotton ripstop that incorporates stretch yarns (but no Spandex) for superior stretch durability, as well as better breathability and colour retention. The stretch built into the fabric allows for a closer fit without compromising any freedom of movement, while a stain and soil resistant finish to the fabric helps them keep clean and fresh-looking for longer.
A smarter look does not mean that the Stryke trousers lack practicality. They have a host of useful features, are made, of course, to 5.11’s high standard for great durability, including Prym press studs and a YKK zip.
The waistband is a self-adjusting tunnel style, with strong elastic for comfort, has 7 wide belt loops (the front two with vertical tunnel features for attaching badges, lanyard loops etc) and fastens with both a concealed button and a press stud, and the crotch has a diamond-shaped insert panel for comfort and freedom of movement. There are two deep bag-type front pockets with reinforced edges and twin welted front pockets for items such as mobile phone, magazines etc and twin rear pockets with Velcro tab-closed pocket flaps. The twin thigh mounted cargo pockets have low profile and expanding gussets as well as Velcro-closed pocket flaps and each contain 2 flat, open-topped, non-stretch, internal pockets to help stabilise and organise the pocket contents. The thigh pockets are angled with the top forward for quick and easy access and are set into the legs of the trousers rather than set as a patch on top of them.
All the pocket flaps have a decorative curved seam for a stylish look, while the trouser knees are double thickness and with an interior knee pad pocket access, while the hems are eyeleted to take blousing laces if you wish to fit them.
I have found these trousers to be stylishly good-looking for “smart casual” wear, as well as being up to really quite rough usage – as you would expect from anything produced by 5.11 – and have proved very comfortable to wear in a variety of environments and conditions.
Stryke Pants come in waist sizes 28” to 44” waist with leg lengths 30-36 inch (even sizes) in Black, Khaki or TDU Green and seem to be becoming very popular trousers with everyone who tries them.
With an RRP of £70, the 5.11 Stryke Pant should soon prove a popular item of clothing. For more information visit www.511tacticaleu.com
