New Zealand clothing company, Swazi is famous for producing top-quality, highperformance outdoor wear, which for a good few years has been available at select retail outlets throughout the UK. Recently launched is a very interesting, Swazi Severn Top. Rarely do we see apparel specifically designed to fulfil a ‘niche’ area amongst outdoor clothing but in many ways, the Severn proves to be ‘one of a kind.’
Manufactured from Swazi’s own Aegis windshield fleece, in actuality, the Severn is of a 3-layer build. The softshell fleece face fabric has a PU breathable windproof membrane that’s laminated between its two super-soft, yet tough, 100% polyester fleeces. The outer and inner layers provide total all-around wind protection, with added warmth and comfort.
The high stand-up collar boasts a ¾ length zip neck for temperature regulation, but its USP is an optics pocket on the upper left breast. This design negates the need for using a bino harness or even neck strap, as it’s roomy enough to hold a medium-sized pair of binoculars. It boasts a generous over-flap closure that secures down with twin, toughened ABS snap buckle holding straps. If not used for storing optics, it can be used for storing a reasonable amount of gear.
The lightweight Severn Top also boasts a double side entry front kangaroo pocket, with pull assist zip closures for keeping hands warm and also for extra storage.
This top is as stylish as it is practical and offers superb performance and protection, plus it’s very comfortable to wear.
