It is illustrated most handsomely throughout, using items of Afrika Korps uniform collected by the author. The photographs are highly detailed to show the weave of the fabric and the stitching techniques used to sew the uniforms together. With more than 260 individual photographs showing shoulder boards, field caps, tunics and badges of rank this is study which is told in pictures and is very much intended for the collector as a reference work.
The extended captions provide very useful additional information to collectors such as how the colours faded, modifications made in the field and styles of wearing the items. The Afrika Korps had a short wartime history buts its legacy and reputation has led to collectors looking at this unit in more detail and this book provides comments on collecting and storing items and pointing out the significance of date stamps. This will prove a very useful reference work which will save collectors a lot of time and money when it comes to identifying items, particularly reproductions.
