here has been a spate of works on this subject, but none as comprehensive as this relatively small tome. Right from the first page, the authors get stuck into the subject with no messing about. Everything about this work focuses on the subject and remains there. The photographs have been chosen for their clarity and the artwork is superb and the text is full of facts and figures. It is a work which explains how this heavyweight branch of the artillery was used by the main armies to support operations, including a mention of the German long-range so-called ‘Paris Gun’. This is an excellent work, which will be great use to modellers, war gamers and general interest readers. Military historians will also enjoy this work from two authors who have really done their research.
