This refreshing work by a much-respected authority on the subject remains concentrated on the weapons, uniforms and personal equipment used by all branches of the army and includes mountain troops (Gebirgsjager). Only very briefly does it touch on women’s uniforms. This book is a photo album with extended captions and a text full of useful information. It covers every stage of the army from rearmament to the late stages of the war, when textiles were in short supply. If a point of clarification is needed on some point of identification this book can guide in the right direction. This is firstly a reference book, but it can be read as a general work full of facts and details from personalities to some items of very rare kit.
