German Soldiers Pocket Manual 1914 - 1918

story continues below...

It is now one hundred years since the end of the First World War and the paper ephemera from that conflict is now very collectable. It is also very delicate and very rare; so, a reprinted item like this is of great interest to collectors and historians of the period alike. There are similar items covering Allied booklets, but this one for the German army will appeal to re-enactors and historians. After a brief introduction, the text goes into the instruction manual which forms the basis of this work. It deals with the intrinsic items of the battlefield, such as the use of the spade, not only as a tool for digging trenches, but also its usefulness as a weapon. The Manual covers gas attack, machine guns and a particularly interesting Trench Raid Report dated 11th April 1916. Anyone with an interest in the German army of the period will want this in their library.
