Rocket systems as battlefield weapons have a history stretching back to the 14th Century being used by the Chinese and later the Mongol armies.

Over the following centuries, rockets were further refined and developed and the author takes the reader through a brief guided tour of this chapter in the history of rockets before arriving at the crux of this very interesting work.

The Katyusha rocket, known to the Germans as ‘Stalin Organs’, were unarguably the most famous of all rocket artillery systems developed during WWII. Each version is examined, including a ship-borne system, along with operational use to explain how effective they were. It ends by bringing it up to date with modern rocketry used in the Middle East wars. A must for modellers, war gamers and weapons enthusiasts.
