Panzergrenadier

Panzergrenadier

Many lessons were learnt by all armies during WWI, including innovative tactics which would be used during WWII. One such tactic was the close co-operation between infantry, tanks and artillery, and was used by the German army in its Blitzkrieg campaigns. The Germans called such formations Panzergrenadier, elite units which fought in all campaigns from Poland to the last days of the war to defend Berlin. The author examines the early days from concept to formation, before being tested in battle in Poland. Each level of the formation is examined from company to division, along with the type of equipment and weaponry used. Infantry being carried into battle by armoured vehicles was also new and here the author examines the types of vehicles used. Everything is well supported with an excellent range of detailed photographs. Readers with an interest in WWII will enjoy this book, even vehicle owners and collectors will find this a useful reference work.
