In the 1980 war film called The Sea Wolves the production purports to tell the story of a real attack on German shipping by a unit known as The Calcutta Light Horse.
Liberties were taken in the film, but in this book the real story is told, which is much more daring than the film could ever portray. However, that episode is just one of the operations featured in the gripping work. The author has done a fine job in putting together lists of facts and figures and his research really is very fine. At times you feel as though you are actually involved and come away thinking you knew the men mentioned in the narrative. The number of operations conducted in this theatre of war will amaze readers, as will the outcome of each of these. For almost four years such operations were conducted under the noses of the enemy. This book on an unusual subject is one you will be glad you did not miss.
