Wiltshire Soldiers: The Somme 1916

story continues below...

There was hardly a community which was not affected by the loss of local men who went to fight in the First World War. Those fortunate enough not to suffer any loss are known as ‘thankful’ villages and there is believed to be only 53 such communities. The county of Wiltshire suffered more than its fair share of men lost in the war, as testified in this magnificent tome. It is now 100-years since the Battle of the Somme and the author has listed the names and details of those men from Wiltshire who were killed in this battle. In this masterful work, he has amassed a comprehensive rollcall, listing their place of burial and personal details.

This book will be a great asset to relatives tracing ancestors who fought and died in the war. The details of the fallen and their photographs in this work means that they will never be forgotten.
