No cowboy film would be complete without the Winchester, indeed there were even films titled after it such as Winchester ‘73, released in 1950, starring James Stewart. John Wayne also added to the weapon’s legend – the scene in True Grit could have been an advert for the rifle. However, there was much more to it as this book shows.
Winchester Lever-Action rifles were used by the military, such as the Russian army in WWI, and others placed substantial orders for the type. Winchester rifles were used by Native American tribes and, of course, cowboys and today they are still popular with shooters.
This book is perfect for collectors of weapons or anyone interested in historical firearms. The diagrams are excellent the illustrations superb and the text highly informative and packed with facts and figures guaranteed to satisfy.
