Swarovski Universal Tripod Adaptor

For observation binoculars are probably the most prolific optical device in shooting. Lighter and easier to uses than a spotting scope, they are reasonably stable in the hand, but there are time when perhaps you might want a more solid position. That could be if Digiscoping or with a set of binocular laser rangefinder models (BRFs), where you need to be dead on what you are looking at to get an accurate reading. If so then Swarovski has their answer for their product with the Universal Tripod Adaptor (UTA). The UTA is designed to fit all the larger Swarovski binos – the EL family, EL Range (BRFs) and SLC 42s. The design consists of a strong, rectangular polymer skeleton base with a moulded-in plate that contains a standard camera tripod thread. Over the top is a wide rubber strap with two steel rods that engage with a hook in the frame. These allow the mount to accommodate a number of barrel sizes and also offer a bit of interpupillary adjustment. We tested the UTA with a set of EL Range 10x42 BRFs and they went in easily and were held securely too.

The added stability offered by the mount pays dividends in both observation and rangefinding and as most modern single and multiple-leg shooting sticks offer a camera thread the UTA makes a lot of sense.
