Nightforce SHV
These Nightforce scopes contain the same build quality and optical excellence of their big brothers (NF and NXS) but with less peripheral features to keep the cost down. The 3-12x56mm SHV comes with 30mm tube but only one reticle choice, are non-illuminated and have no parallax adjustment, but do you actually need those options? This model comes with the IHR or International Hunting Reticle; I really like it, it’s uncomplicated but highly visible. Lenses on the SHV are manufactured in Japan and being fully multi-coated to all surfaces still brings that characteristic high level of light transmission and sharpness that built the Nightforce reputation. At all magnifications, the edge to edge sharpness was impressive, no vigneting or chromatic aberration.
Delta Optical 2.5-15 x 56mm Titanium
The new Delta Optical Titanium HD is priced very well at £699.95. It is made with excellent Japanese optics with a good six power magnification range of 2.5x to 15x, so a good versatile range for close or long-range work and a side mounted parallax adjuster. Finally, an illuminated reticle and you have a high spec scope for a sensible price that will appeal to vermin, fox, stalker and airgun user alike. The image is excellent thanks to the fully coated HD lenses, with a pin sharp and flat image at all magnifications. Some cheaper scopes are bright but lack definition, The Delta Titanium was both and performed more like a high-end European model.
KAHLES K3 18i 3.5-18x50i
The rugged new K318i is an ultrashort design with an illuminated, first focal plane reticle and a wide field-of-view and the exceptional high contrast image sets new standards for ultra-short riflescopes. All operating elements provide maximum grip and can also be comfortably used with gloves. Information on the turrets is clearly readable from the aiming position. The innovative, patented TWIST GUARD windage with its freely rotating end cover, reliably prevents an accidental movement of the windage. This simple solution not only protects the windage from accidental movement, it also allows the shooter fast and unhindered handling, without the cumbersome need of ‘locking’ and ‘unlocking’.
Zeiss V8 1.8-14x50mm
The Zeiss V8 uses the latest high light transmission Schott glass lenses of 92% light transmission and this 1.8-14x50mm scope offers the maximum amount of diverse uses, from woodland or running game at 1.8x mag, to longer shots with the 14x mag. Optical quality is without question superb and really what you are paying for, as is the reliable and repeatability of the internal adjustment system. The Zeiss V8 scopes are bomb proof and you can rely on them to stay zeroed and the ASV trajectory compensating system to adjust exactly to your new point of aim and then back again. In a word, you can depend on them.
Hawke Endurance 30 3-12x56mm
The Hawke Endurance 3-12x50mm is a high-end scope but realistically priced at under £350. The 30mm, mono-tube aluminium construction provides strength and has a satin black anodised finish. The magnification is a high torque design to stop movement under recoil and there are low-profile elevation and windage adjustment turrets. The lenses at this price point are great with fully multi-coated lenses with 16 individual layers to maximise light gathering for an image of good contrast, sharp, bright and edge to edge clarity. The 4a reticle has a floating central dot and two additional stadia on the vertical post and a side mounted illumination turret with a step-less rheostat control. This is a great all-round scope for the price and is optically very good.
