Allan Shooting Bags

There are three models in the Allen Shoot’n Rest Shooting Bag range and all come pre-filled with polypropylene granules. They are some of the best I’ve handled and used for keeping their shape.
The Bench Rest Bag measures 8 x 7 x 5” and comes with an adjustable/ removable shoulder strap, so it’s easy to carry. There’s also a quick release ABS buckle should you want to remove it.
Sticky…
The area the rifle rests in is described as a ‘sticky, textured, reinforced synthetic gun rest surface.’ Inspection shows this area is covered in tiny dimples that help hold the forend in position. All seams are bonded and in most places double stitching is used to attach the panels.
A lot of thought has gone into the design which in gun rest bags is often not the case unless you pay top dollar. However, we all have need for shooting bags, either on the range for zeroing, and particularly for taking a long shot off the bonnet of the motor and window bags are always handy to have too - more on this unique design bag later.
Next up is the Front/Rear Bag Set. These obviously come as a pair and attach together for transportation by two heavy-duty stainless steel split rings. Once detached the front rest measures 5 ½ x 5 x 5”. The rear bag is contoured so it can be moved forward or back while in use to elevate or lower the rear of the gun. This is accomplished by a 2” deep ‘V’ section for the underside of the butt to slide in whilst being held secure. It measures 4 ½ x 4 ½ x 6”. Both top sections have the sticky synthetic material.
Window
Now the Window bag, which consists of a saddle-type design that and as the name suggest sits securely over the window glass. On top of this is the V-shaped forend rest, which again is lined with the sticky fi nish material. It’s quite small but offers more than enough support. I found it of more use placed over the wing mirror and ideal for slipping in my jacket pocket for taking shots off the top of round metal gates, wooden slatted types and even barbed wire.
Any of these bags will be of use whether you are on the range or shooting from a fi xed position or vehicle. The ‘sticky textured reinforced synthetic gun rest surface’ really does help aid your rifle to stay put…
FOR - There’s a Shooting bag here to suit all disciplines
AGAINST - Not a lot
VERDICT - Come pre-filled; design, build quality and price are hard to beat
