Napier Trekker

Napier Trekker

In the company’s own words: “RAZORBACK products are the pinnacle of Napier’s high quality shooting accessories and boast a host of features never before offered including a 5 year warranty.”
The TREKKER is a full sized weekend holdall, with ample room for any travellers’ kit. Like all of this range it boasts heavy-duty zips, Armour Flex scuff protection panels, Grip Lock carry handle, a full size adjustable detachable shoulder strap and the outer is manufactured from the now established, tough and attractive bonded washed LAMTEC canvas.

ALL GUNS

Originally intended for shotgun use, it soon became apparent to Steve Rowe, head honcho of Napier that there are many more shooting disciplines and therefore guns it could cater for. He contacted me to test its worth for the airgun market and certain firearms that can be broken down. As we know there are several take-down air rifles that come in their own carry case, but the Trekker has that covered as we shall see…

Measuring 30 X 9 1?2 wide X 14”, it looks like a normal trolley bag with its extending handle. It also has three, external zip pocket compartments, with the main offering a 73 Litre Proof positive – my AA S410 TDR sitting secure and safe in the slightly modified base capacity. The Steel frame external rolling gear, with telescopic handle and strong wheels are top quality as is the bag but the ‘special’ difference is the moulded base section.

GET AWAY GUN TRAY!

This ‘gun tray’ has 3-sections - one for barrel with forend attached measuring 30.5 X 2.75”, stock compartment 5.5 X 22.5” and the accessory compartment 6.5 X 2.75.” Originally designed to carry any shotgun (or take down rifle), this unique feature makes the TREKKER so useful, certainly avoiding the side-ways glances if carrying a gun bag often experienced when checking into hotels etc.

Many times when I’ve snatched time away, I’ve got talking to locals who often say ‘you should have brought your air rifle, it’s teaming with rabbits and the owners of the cottage your staying in would be all too happy for you to have a crack at them in certain areas – just ask?’ This has happened to me more than once, so in my opinion it is viable to use the Trekker for such a reason?

Well thankfully my favoured take-down - the Air Arms S410 TDR fits into the moulded sections (with scope removed) as do several others including the old style Brocock Enigma, Gunpower Stealth, FX Verminator MkII plus for many the big bonus will be the fact it will accommodate the Sako Quad (bolt removed). Granted for most rifles you have to adapt/cut the compartments slightly and often use some EVA foam so components don’t rattle around. But I’m pleased to report there are many reasons the airgun to rimfire shooter might well want to invest in one of these.

The Trekker isn’t designed for airline travel, but I have it on good authority from Pete Moore it’s up to that job too!
