A silencer/sound moderator is a handy addition to any airgun. It can reduce muzzle report and is capable of transforming the handling of an air rifle completely. Additional mass at the muzzle can aid the cocking stroke on a break barrel, or just help balance, and the Multi-fit Silencer marketed by Range Right, is a perfect example. The unit weighs just over 7oz complete, and when locked in place, adds front weight which can help counteract muzzle flip on certain rifles as well as stabilize the gun on aim.
It’s a neat little design, largely based on the old Webley Pro-System. Unscrew the body tube and inside are a couple of spacers that slip over different sized barrels, two different length rings that sit up against the barrel and two nylon locking rings. Select the spacing ring that most suits the barrel, slide on the rear section of the tube onto the barrel, slide over the appropriate spacer, use one or both of the rings that back up against the muzzle, and using one or two of the expanding rings, lock up the complete body tube. As the system comes together, the locking rings expand and the barrel is held tight within. Spanners can be used carefully to nip up the assembly if deemed necessary. The internal back up rings effectively form a baffle or two, so the muzzle crack is muted. Instructions are included, and it’s all very neat and cost-effective.
