Gerber Myth

Gerber Myth

Gerber’s Myth series is comprised of the usual blades and associated in-field cutlery that hunters require. All share a commonality in the fact that they feature a newly designed handle of a soft yet textured rubberised material. Not unlike the Gerber Gator, but they seem to offer more ease of use no matter what you are using! This is the major feature of all the blades and also most come with rear lanyard attachment points, OD synthetic sheaths (except the saw) with integral carbide sharpeners in the tips

LIGHTWEIGHT DROP POINT

First up is the Myth Folding Sheath Knife. A lightweight drop point blade with a slim and ergonomically designed handle. Measuring 4.75” closed and 8.25” open, the 3.5” high carbon stainless steel blade has dual thumb studs to assist easy one handed opening. Balance of this well appointed folder is incredible and weighing only 3.1oz is also a bonus. The back lock blade has a reasonable length of jimping near the large thumb studs and continues back as ribbing on the handle.

The handle shape and material make up is the major selling point, as it offers a sure and comfortable grip in all conditions and will suit all needs! The lanyard point is seen towards the sculpted ribbed rear section and like all ‘Myth’ tools it’s finished in a highly practical yet stylish mainly black colour with buff trim.

SMALL FIXED

The Myth Compact Fixed Blade is an updated take on a small paring knife. Measuring 7.25” overall, with a 3.25” blade it weighs just 1oz - this has to be one of Gerber’s finest designs ever! Despite its slim and relatively small profile, the handles front finger guard and top front upper ribbing make this a lovely knife to use for those who only need a minimal field dressing blade for small area and cavity work.

SAW

Last but not least we have the Myth Folding Saw. With an overall length of 15.5”, closed 8.5” the 6.75” dual edge blade has both fine and coarse teeth making it the almost perfect tool for removing bones and especially sawing through wood. The very comfortable, soft rubberised handle wraps around a rigid stainless steel liner to provide extra strength.

The outer is ergonomic to the max affording it one of the best holds I’ve used on such a tool. The plunge (press in to open) lock seen at the top front of the handle provides a very solid and secure hold on the saw blade in the open and closed position. Despite the lack of sheath, at only 2.4oz I’d say it makes an ideal addition to any hunter’s kit bag.

Gerber prove once again with the Myth series of hunting tools they do make Legendary Blades.
