Hornady Ballistic Bands

Hornady Ballistic Bands

As a rifleman if you’re smart you will record your ballistics germane to your rifle/ammo in an easy to see manner that displays your range and windage corrections. Some write it on a piece of paper and tape it to the scope’s objective; others store it in their flip-up lens caps and probably more don’t even bother. Hornady has come up with an idea that suits both rifle mounting and being easily carried on your arm; the Ballistic Band. It’s far from revolutionary but it works and is most practical too.

It consists of a buff rubber band approximately 1” high that’s flexible enough to be worn on your wrist or around the butt of your rifle. It’s marked with a section where you can write in the cartridge details, then further divided from 100 to 500in 100 increments. How you notate these yards or meters is down to you.

There’s enough space under each number to fill in both windage and drop figures easily. In use we found that using a gel-type or marker pen causes the writing to smudge, even when it’s dry. For best retention a standard ink Biro seems to be the best bet.

Waterproof and impossible to lose, Hornady’s Ballistic Bands come in packs of two and are well worth a look!
