Clulite Headlight and Torch

It seems that the keyword at Cluson Engineering at the moment is ‘adjustable’, because they’ve just launched two very different highly portable utility lights with unique, and very practical adjustable beam systems.

First up, is the ‘Focus2Go headlight, which allows the user to select the beam style they require from wide to narrow spot plus the head is ‘click-stop’ adjustable vertically through 90°. It has a handy multi battery option, meaning it can run from the on-board Li-Polymer rechargeable cell (direct plug to recharge by micro USB) and also use 3x AAA batteries, or if/when you require extended duration after the Li-ion runs down. Incidentally, the rechargeable battery needs to be removed from the clip fasten casing for installation of this alternative power source.

There are five light modes to choose from and an integrated indicator shows battery capacity and charging status. All modes are accessed by a generously sized rubberised red pressure switch and include full, mid, low, red light and red flashing (strobe).

Weighing only 95-grams, this compact headlight has a dust and water resistance rating of IP64 and the X-L CREE White LED gives out 580-Lumens on full power, has a spotting distance of 150m and a run time of 2.5-hours on high.

The headlight’s USP is that all white beam modes can be adjusted from spot to flood by manually rotating the outer ring at the head of the main white light, whereupon the front lens and LED housing visibly extend like a manual zoom tele-photo camera.

Handy to hold

The AB200 is compact and incredibly robust with an aircraft grade aluminium body. Powered by an 18650 Rechargeable Li-ion battery, the CREE XML T6 LED gives an impressive 500Lumens on full power, out to 300m. The rubberised tactical side switch ‘lights up’ blue when pressed then consecutive presses allow you to choose from high or low beam.

Both levels are adjustable from spot to flood by manually sliding the head forward or retracting it. Burn times are 2.5hrs on high and 6hrs on low. The profiled lens has an extended, bevel-edged housing, which helps create such a narrow intense beam and protect the glass from damage.

Conclusion

Both headlight and torch come included with their individual rechargeable Li-ion battery power sources and USB charging leads; so, if you’re looking for compact, yet powerful LED utility lights, then these are highly recommended.
