This little gem is described as being ‘Multitalented, hard-working and adventurous’. The SNAP is a one-stop tool for any of your lighting needs; headlamp, flashlight, bike light, safety flasher, lantern and magnetic area light. Some claim, but the manufacturers Princeton Tec have every right to be proud of this awardwinner as it received the top honours at Gear Junkie’s best in show of Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2018 and Outside Magazine’s staff pick for favourite product at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2018.
The SNAP starts as a straightforward headlamp with an additional focus on a modular, adaptable design. The head unit is removable from the headlamp bracket for handheld operation and use with the included accessories, snapping into place with a strong magnet. The full kit consists of a SNAP head unit, headlamp attachment, two-way carabiner mount and clip (to hang on your pack or use as a lantern) and handlebar attachment (mount to your bike or any similar sized pole).
The SNAP is also simple to use, it shows a large, easy to find button on the head unit which turns the versatile spot beam on, dims it and switches over to flash mode. The single Maxbright LED with dimmable spot is rated at 200 Lumens with a runtime of 130 hours. It’s powered by three AAA Alkaline batteries (supplied). It weighs 3.5oz with the power source installed and is manufactured to a waterresistant rating of IPX4.
