The Helix lantern stands at 140mm high and weighs 155-grams. The output is 150 lumens at maximum and it is dimmable in both white and red light modes. Run time is up to 24 hours and there is also a strobe setting for emergencies. There are no buttons on the lantern and a simple swipe of the finger controls the settings.
The lantern has four adjustable feet, so it can be stood on an uneven surface and each leg incorporates a hook for hanging it up. There is a hanging loop on the top of the light for vertical suspension. The top of the unit can be removed to turn it into a spotlight if required. Even though it is already pretty small, it can be collapsed by squashing it down from the top and clipping it shut. With the feet folded up the whole unit is then just 70mm tall and it takes up almost no room in your pack. This model is rechargeable, via a micro-USB port so no batteries to change or dispose of.
Overall, this is a fantastic little lantern packing loads of illumination into a small package. Although relatively expensive, you will save a lot of money on batteries. With just a few uses it will prove to be far more economical than non-rechargeable alternatives. This is a great piece of gear and well worth adding to your kit.
