Clulite AB200 Adjust a beam
- Last updated: 27/04/2020
Seems at Cluson Engineering ‘adjustable’ is the tag word of the moment because like the HL21 LED Headlight they now bring us a torch with a spot to flood adjustable beam system. The AB200 is compact and incredibly robust with an aircraft grade aluminium body.
Powered by an 18650 Rechargeable Li-ion battery, the CREE XML T6 LED gives an impressive 500-Lumens on full power sending a beam that can reach out to 300m. The rubberised see-thru tactical side switch ‘lights up’ blue when pressed then consecutive presses allow you to choose from high or low beam.
Both levels are adjustable from spot to flood by manually sliding the head forward or retracting it. Interestingly on its narrowest/tightest setting the beam is actually so focused that it shows the small square shape of the LED that produces it. Burn times are 2.5-hours on high and 6-hours on low. The profiled lens unit has an extended bevel edge housing which helps create such a narrow intense beam.
The charging point is on the opposite side to the switch and is protected from dirt, dust and moisture by a very tight fitting ‘captive’ flush fitting rubber grommet. The torch comes included with the rechargeable Li-ion battery, pocket clip and USB charging lead. Incidentally, there’s also a non-rechargeable fixed power 220-Lumen version available, the AB100 which uses the same ‘sliding’ focus adjust system and takes power from 2x AA batteries.
