Clulite Midi LED Gun-Lite

Cluson Engineering is celebrating their 40th year in the creation and production of lighting systems. So it’s good to see they’re not resting on their laurels as new product is appearing all the time – here I have their Clulite Midi LED Gun-Lite. The kit includes the LED lamp head (full beam 150-Lumens), gun mounting bracket including adaptor for fitting 30mm scope body tubes. Rechargeable Ni-MH battery pack, ON/OFF stock-mountable switch and 240V Mains Charger.
On Gun
The battery pack measures 3 ¾ x 2 x 1”with a cushioned back plate, inside is a fully-sealed pack that holds 2 X CR18650 7.3V cells. These reputedly on full charge give a run time of 10-12hrs at high power and up to 24hrs on the lower setting. At the rear is a wide, elasticated/adjustable strap, which allows you to position the pack where it suits you best, on the rifle or even on the scope. So no separate battery and yards of cable getting in the way.
Unusually the controls are not on the lamp as with other Cluson designs but on the battery pack. Above the charging socket is a button - push once (high beam) and a second time for low beam, a third time switches off and isolates the battery from accidental operation. When set up operation is by the stock-mounted ON/OFF switch that will probably be positioned on the forend so right under your supporting hand. Self-adhesive, double-sided Velcro pads are included to keep it in place.
CREE LED
The lamp uses a single focused, CREE LED that produces a powerful white beam capable of illuminating up to 75-100 yards, depending on conditions. The head measures 2 ¼” wide and is permanently attached to Cluson’s well-known G-clamp, fully adjustable scope mounting system.
I reckon this is by far the best lamping kit Cluson have manufactured for short/medium range hunting. It’s light, reasonably powerful, easy to mount and operate, and will suit the airgun hunter as it will rimfire shooter. Optional filters will be available soon.
FOR - Not too big, heavy or cumbersome
AGAINST - A tad more power would be nice
VERDICT - Neat and compact, all-in-one lamping system
