Clulite Trio gunlite

There’s no disputing that Lamping kit has come a very long way in a short space of time, with the amount of self-contained LED Tactical Torches with no trailing wires to external battery packs now becoming the norm. I’ve pondered how these units could progress and it seems to be offering interchangeable LED heads rather than using a filter. Keeping up with this growing trend is Cluson with their Clulite Trio Pro.
The full Trio Pro Kit includes the torch body with tactical tail switch and lanyard, remote switch, ‘Dual’ (25mm & 30mm) multi-adjustable gun mount, 1 X 18650 rechargeable Li-ion battery, mains charger. Plus the promised three colour LED’s (white, red and green) set in their own removable screw on/off lamp head housings. Manufactured from aircraft-grade aluminium, the hard black anodised torch is fully sealed and protected from the elements with rubber O-rings.
With a lamp head in place the 1” diameter body measures a compact 6” long. The lamp housings are significant at 1 ¾” diameter and 2 3/8” long.
The Trio offers high and low beam, both of which can be accessed by the tail switch or as most hunters will use, the remote (on-gun).
Rated at 250Lumen at full power and with any colour LED in place is quoted with a range of 200m and to be able to pick up eye reflections up to 300m. During test I found this to be a sensible and accurate claim as is the approximated 2-3hr continuous runtime on high beam and 10hrs on low.
Changing colours is easy; unscrew the self-contained lamp head and wind on another. The remote pressure pad switch design offers a high degree of quick and easy control of the light. The elongated switch - which can be positioned anywhere on the stock using the double-sided Velcro strips - offers a dual function ability and more!
At the rear is a standard ON/OFF function so it can stay lit as required. However, moving forward there’s a ‘touch on’ facility for that quick shot. Either switch can also be used to toggle from low to high power as required, which is achieved by pressing once then twice on either. The first activates the light on full beam and the second changes it to low. Either setting offers a tight, pure and well defined beam at either level.
FOR: Build quality, ease of use and light colour choice
AGAINST: Not a lot
VERDICT: Cluson’s most versatile and practical gunlight to date!
