S10 Baton Torch

Olight are becoming a big name at the quality end of the market, and their coverage and acceptance has increased exponentially since becoming part of Deben Group’s product distribution network – deservedly so. And a perfect example is the S10 Baton flashlight, featured here, which punches well and truly above its diminutive weight!

Mini Marvel

The S10 Features a slick hard-anodised aluminium alloy casing, and the solid feel and build quality impresses from the off. Four power settings are on offer as well as a strobe effect, which would be great to attract attention in an emergency. Strobe mode is amazingly bright, and is activated by quickly double clicking the button. The very lowest power level is termed the Moonlight setting, and this is affected by switching on the light and holding the button for more than one second. Moonlight runs on minimal power, so obviously lasts for a huge length of time; yet for a camping scenario, or ultra subtle backlight, it works a treat. Hold the button gently again, and the light cycles through a loop onto the next brightness level and so on – low, middle, high, middle, low… Full power is astonishing for such a small unit, and illuminates brightly an area up to 85 metres – a claim by the manufacturers that I can more than confirm!

S Express

Thoughtful design means the bottom of the tube features a strong magnet, which allows the S10 to quickly attach/hang from a variety of objects, whilst a large metal pocket clip can attach to clothes, a belt or even a hat, bringing further versatility.

The S10 comes complete with a small bag of spare seals and a lanyard, and is powered by one CR123A style battery.

‘Super compact’ best describes this product, and with the S10 able to sit comfortably within the palm of your hand, it really is a miracle of miniaturisation. Not cheap at £45.95, but once you feel the quality, and appreciate the level of performance on offer the S10 makes a lot of sense.
