Lord & Field Accessories

Lord and Field are an American firm created by Daniel Dabbs of the firm Battlbox to pay tribute to his great grandfather and the old-time tools he used as a woodsman. For those who don’t know who Battlbox are, they are a subscription firm in the US sending out boxes full of Everyday Carry items. Heinnie Haynes sent me three new items from them, and straight off I could see the philosophy behind Daniels vision. Heinnie Haynes could definitely see it too.

Trail bag

First up, a really useful canvas trail bag for those who love to forage, this is a really useful bit of kit. Worn on the belt folded up the bag measures only 100 x 80 x 45mm. Two large brass press studs secure it to your belt. Undo a smaller one on the front and the waxed canvas bag opens out to a 200 x 200mm square bag. There is a drawstring around the top, or should I say a draw ‘seven strand 550 paracord’. The cord closing system is nicely finished off with a leather tag cut into the shape of a leaf. It has a pressed vein detail on the top and two cuts on each side making it appear even more leaf-like. The collapsible trail bag is a practical and useful tool.

Arrowhead Bushcraft necklace

Next up, the Arrowhead Bushcraft necklace shares the same quality construction as the bag. The stainless steel arrowhead is sheathed in fine leather, a hole in its centre lines up with a hole in the sheath. A loop from the 2.5mm cammo paracord neck chord feeds through the 4.8mm hole in the steel and leather, the top of the neck chord then goes through the loop and over the neck. One other part of the necklace is an 8mm diameter, 33mm long Ferro rod which is strung on the chord. In an emergency the grooves on the shank of the arrowhead can be dragged on the rod to produce sparks and make a fire. The shank also carries the Lord & Field logo.

If you fancy it, you can lash the arrowhead on a stick and make yourself an arrow, it’s also perfectly useable as a small cutting tool. It can be worn as a necklace or put in a rear pocket, and it’s so small and light you will hardly know it’s there.

Notebook Cover

Finally, their fine leather notebook cover comes complete with a grid patterned 60-page notebook but will take any B7/ Passport or Field Note sized notebooks. Additionally, it has slips for four credit cards on the inside of the front and back covers. The front is embossed with a small Buffalo and the rear with Lord & Field Outfitters. The leather is 2.5mm thick, the stitching is gold in colour and the whole thing feels and looks classy.
