Harpsoe Safety Gun Strap

It’s always an alarming moment when you feel your rifle sling start to slip off your shoulder as you cross an obstacle, and generally tedious to have to keep a hand on it even when walking on the flat. A good solution is to add a secondary strap that loops around your stock, wraps around your body and clips into the sling itself, keeping everything secure. Several dual-sling systems are available but all make your old sling redundant.
By contrast, the Safety Gun Strap (SGS) enables you to retain your existing sling. Made in Sweden by hunting specialists, Harpsöe and imported into the UK by Rob Crampton of Bestdeercall, it comes in three versions: Basic, Hybrid, and Tracking Hunter. Together, these offer multiple options by way of length, colour and rubber-texturing, but the genius feature is that the strap doesn’t run to a fixed point on the sling, but rather to a collar that can be positioned wherever it is most comfortable and practical. Thus, you might slide it up to your shoulder for the maximum security of a cross-chest hold, or down to your waist to avoid a binocular harness. The collar is adjustable for width and accommodates slings from 20-80cm wide.
All versions come in black, with the Hybrid also available in green, orange and pink. Priced from £32, they’re not super cheap but innovative design and quality construction seldom are. Nevertheless, they cost less than most dedicated dual-sling systems, are easily switched between rifles and will boost the functionality of your existing system.
