Le Chameau introduces the Chameau-Lite LCX® Leather Collection

The new ultra-light Chameau-Lite LCX® Leather Collection has raised the bar in terms of technology, durability and comfort.

The collection comprises: Chameau-Lite LCX® 12”, Chameau-Lite LCX® Kevlar® 10”, Chameau-Lite LCX® 10” and Chameau-Lite LCX® Low 7”.

Created by Le Chameau in partnership with Michelin, the collection encompasses the design, craftsmanship and innovation for which the French brand is synonymous, allied to the next generation of materials and technology. This new collection amplifies the attention to detail and uncompromising standards that are Le Chameau hallmarks.

Benjamin Chapuis, Le Chameau’s footwear designer, said: “We asked outdoorsmen what they thought about their boots. They liked boots that keep their feet warm in cold weather but found them heavy and tiring to wear all day. Others liked their lightweight boots, but they rarely lasted the season. We said, OK, let’s do something better.”

The Chameau-Lite LCX® range is the result of the obsessive quest for excellence that has driven Le Chameau for 90 years. Le Chameau designers and engineers were challenged to design a boot that could perform in almost any environment and the toughest of terrains, offer the same durability and protection as a rubber boot, whilst providing a new standard for footwear all-day comfort and luxury.

The main challenge for the design team was finding a way to reduce the weight without sacrificing any comfort or performance. Le Chameau collaborated with tyre-experts Michelin, to develop a new type of ultra-light outsole that could match or exceed the traction, comfort and durability of heavier outsoles. Cutting edge materials and technologies were incorporated resulting in weight savings of up to 20% versus comparable alternative products. The Chameau-Lite LCX® range has also been designed to ensure that no breaking in is required, featuring an engineered ankle flex; they will offer outstanding comfort from the very first step taken in them.

The 'Deep Forest' performance sole designed with Michelin based on motocross tyre technology and offers exceptional agility and grip on any surface.

Using a complex five-layer technology construction, the exclusive LCX® membrane prevents water permeating the boot whilst simultaneously allowing vapour to escape easily, keeping feet dry and comfortable.

Additionally, Chameau-Lite LCX® 12”, Chameau-Lite LCX® Kevlar® 10” and Chameau-Lite LCX® 10” have a memory foam layer to provide extra protection and insulation. These products have been exhaustively tested at SATRA (considered a leading technical authority for footwear and leather), who verified they provide comfort in temperatures as low as -25 degrees.

The Chameau-Lite LCX® Kevlar® 10” has been developed for the most extreme terrain. It protects the forefoot with an almost impenetrable Dupont Kevlar® shield to complement the memory foam padding around the ankle and abrasion resistant Michelin outsole.
