All hunters know the advantages of keeping concealed from your quarry, and the Jack Pyke Light Leaf Concealment System (LLCS) is designed to do just that. This is an innovative, effective and comfortable to wear collection of clothing and accessories to aid your ability to blend in with your background.
Although the full collection will cover you from head to foot – rifle and all – I have so far only been trying out the clothing accessories - baseball style cap, gloves and balaclava.
Basically the cap is a standard one-size-fits-all lightweight polyester baseball cap in English Oak pattern camo print, with a stretch sweat band and firm peak, and the gloves the same as the stretch fit Jack Pyke shooting gloves with gripper dot type palms, again in English Oak camo print. The big difference is that on the back of the gloves and outside of the cap are attached strips of polyester fabric – in English Oak print of course – cut and sewn to give “oak leaf” shapes that stand up irregularly to break up, very effectively, any human silhouette.
The balaclava is made of lightweight mesh, again printed in English Oak with the light leaf trimmings, an adjustable fit elasticated face hem and a drop-down face cover of the printed mesh.
The mesh, used in a large part of the LLCS allows great ventilation to avoid overheating, and gives excellent concealment as the mesh works like net curtains in a window. With the light in front of the mesh you cannot see through it, only seeing the English Oak print, but with the light on the other side – i.e. looking out through it – then the mesh is virtually invisible, barely noticeable at all.
The mesh LLCS components of the range have the added benefit of being very lightweight and compact for packing and transporting, so that you can wear “normal” clothing to your shooting location with the over-garments of the LLCS stowed in your bag with little weight or bulk, and no odd looks from people in the street!
The elements of the LLCS that I have tried are extremely effective, comfortable and easy to wear, but be warned – do make a note of where you put them down when you take them off in the woods as even at close range they are almost invisible against leaf litter!
