The Wolfhound is an insulated softshell jacket that keeps you warm even when fully wet. The construction shows 67g/m2 Climashield Apex padding inside, which is clever stuff. It allows moisture to pass through and its thermal efficiency does not degrade when washed. The external layer is WindPack nylon, which is a canvas weave fabric reinforced by a double ripstop grid. It is treated with a durable water repellent coating, which offers some welcome protection from wind and light rain. The jacket secures at the front with a full-length zip, which includes an inner wind flap and chin protector. There is a single, zippered hip pocket on each side and a single vertical chest pocket on the left-hand side. All include a warm lining, YKK zips and plastic/cord pullers. Inside, on the right-hand side, there is a small vertical zipped pocket.
The high collar is amalgamated with an adjustable hood, and the design does a good job of covering as much of your head as possible. There is an elasticated cord and a toggle adjust on the back of the hood and the edging around the wearers face is elasticated, as are the cuffs. For some extra comfort and flexibility, the armpits are manufactured from VersaStretch and for personalisation, there is a Velcro panel on the left arm.
Overall, a versatile, comfy, quality garment that can be compressed into the supplied sleeping bag-type pouch and packed away in a rucksack. Well worth your consideration.
