Jack Pyke Camo

Jack Pyke, who developed their own “English Oak” camouflage to suit British conditions and produce their very popular ranges of shooting and countryside clothing in both this and “Hunters Green”, have done it again.

Their new “English Woodland” camouflage is the end result of much research and development and, like the “English Oak” camouflage, based on British not overseas vegetation patterns and type, making it ideal for use in our local (and some European) countryside environments.

The English Woodland camouflage has much more of a green tone to it than the English Oak pattern (which it will run alongside) and complements Jack Pyke’s current range.  The new English Woodland pattern range will include the majority of Jack Pyke’s existing range and many new products will soon be available in both English Woodland and English Oak camouflage patterns.

The English Woodland camouflage is a “photo-realistic” pattern, mimicking the flora around you, rather than a “disruptive” pattern such as found in military camo. It contains leaf and tree patterns (I am sure a better botanist than I could identify them all), some in sharp focus and some blurred as if out of focus, to give an effective feel of depth and distance.

The colours are fairly muted and the tonal range is wide, from pale grey greens through rich greens, all on a brown base of varying tone.

The effectiveness of the English Woodland pattern is striking as the colours, tones and layout of the individual elements fits in well with the environment, while also visually breaking up the human outline.

I am sure the English Woodland camouflage will prove as popular, if not even more so, as the well-established English Oak pattern and will be worn by many shooters, fishermen and bird spotters in both British and North West Europe.
