Measuring 6-inches at the rear and rising to 8-inches at the well-padded tongue area, even though they have a very strong and heavy looking all- terrain sole, they’re surprisingly lighter than they seem which is felt when worn.
The Full Grain Leather and polyamide upper combine to give a reassuring, comfortable and solid supporting feel while the anatomical, polyamide on EVA insole feels equally comfortable underfoot. The polyamide (there’s that word again) lining holds a generous amount of internal padding, plus the waterproof and breathable MTD membrane. And if you’re wondering what this magical stuff ‘polyamide’ is, well it’s more commonly known as nylon. It’s extremely hard- wearing and resistant to oils, greases, solvents and alkalis. Other beneficial characteristics are that it’s very resistant to wear, tear and abrasion and gives a good level of dimensional stability, plus it’s also very strong and tough. So, as you can imagine, it’s just the type of material that’s needed for manufacturing outdoor footwear such as this.
Lacing is catered for by four pairs of captive lace retainers and three pairs of open speed-lacing clasps. Further wearer comfort is aided by the design of the padded top section as it neatly curves down at the rear, offering a high level of unrestricted movement. The toe and heel are generously reinforced for extra protection and the grip the cleat design affords is certainly a major plus point.
This rubber outsole is Aigle’s own design and can best be described as an eclectic mix of medium and large aggressive cleats configured quite randomly. The unique design of the outsole gives an assured grip on a wide variety of terrain and is easy to clean. Also the addition of generously sized toe-raisers are useful when walking up slippery slopes and the raised heel is very robust.
