From the same company that brought us the Jahtijakt Camo Membrane Boot, now come the more traditional looking Jahtijakt Premium Membrane Boot. These boots not only differ cosmetically, but I can also say with certainty that the ‘Premium’ boots are of a much more rugged build. Granted, they share similarities as they both use SCENTECH odour blocking technology to eliminate human scent and an AIR-TECH2 membrane to transfer moisture out - therefore keeping your feet and socks dry. The Premium boots also use the robustly configured Vibram sole offering an excellent grip on a wide variety of surfaces. Indication is certainly found here that these boots are manufactured to handle the toughest terrain. The thicker build of the cleats lugs are much deeper cut and designed to be easily cleaned.
Measuring almost 12” in height these boots abound in padding, protection and a higher overall build characteristic. Even the toe section has an extra very broad black colour strengthening layer, and the company has even added antibacterial treated removable and washable insoles.
As if the technological build specifications already mentioned weren’t impressive enough it’s the quality of the mid-brown colour leather and Nubuck materials that the boot is constructed from that dominates the attention, as you lace these sturdy yet forgiving boots up via the four rust proofed metal captive D-ring eyelets plus a further five sets of speed lace retainers.
Easily slipped in and out off thanks to the wide throat, the boots not only feature internal thermo wadding but they have also been given what is termed a ‘threefold treatment’ in the triple stitched seams to ensure maximum waterproofing, plus further surface treatment for ultimate water and dirt repellent properties. Support and padding is yet another major feature of these boots with the top grade four layer sole structured for maximum wearer comfort. This combined with the correct positioning of the lacing system not only reliably supports the foot but while walking you can feel the insulated flexible soles shock absorbing design is both sturdy and allows ‘roll’ as you move.
Included with the boots are a pair of thin base socks manufactured from a material known as CoolMax that helps keep your feet dry and prevent blisters as well as a tub of natural bees wax that should be used to help the boots retain their dirt and water repellent properties.
If you’re looking for lighter weight top quality camo boots with similar internal specifications then the companies ‘Camo’ Membrane Boots are hard ones to beat. However, for rugged, comfortable, long lasting, well insulated and high quality footwear that will take you safely over any terrain found in the UK, then in my opinion the Jahtijakt Premium Membrane Boots are certainly amongst the finest in this price range.
• For: A tougher boot all round
