The first thing that strikes you on visual inspection of these 8” high Olive/Khaki boots is the robust all-terrain looking sole. They also feel light in the hand and more importantly, on the feet!
When you slip your feet into them, the split leather, polyamide and ‘synthetic’ upper helps give a reassuring, comfortable yet solid supporting feel, with flex in the key areas of toe and heel for negotiating any terrain. Suited to rough shooting and hill walking as much as lowland stalking, the polyamide lining holds the generous internal ‘padding’ and the all-important waterproof membrane within the outer and inner structure that gives these boots such high performance attributes and a versatility rarely seen in boots in this price range.
Aigle call this ‘The ‘X-Act’ concept, sounds great doesn’t it, but whatever they’ve called it, I can assure you it works.
Aigle footwear bearing the ‘WaterPROOF’, (WP) label such as the Stalker’s featured here are guaranteed to be 100% waterproof, yet due to the hi-tech materials used in the inner build, sweat is allowed to wick away from the foot. Lacing is catered for by four pairs of captive lace retainers and three pairs of open speed lacing clasps take you to the top. Further comfort is aided by the padded top section coming down lower than most at the rear offering a surprisingly unrestricted and high level of movement.
The toe and heel are reinforced for extra protection and the ‘unique’ cleat design affords good grip on muddy ground. Since I’ve been testing boots I’ve become quite fascinated by the cleat layout of footwear and how some give traction on a variety of surfaces while others don’t. The lugs and cleats of the Aigle Stalker WP’s are a compromise of big broad hefty lugs spaced quite widely apart on the outer edge while they change to a random ‘grip’ pattern at the front. It’s this coupled with toe and heel strengthening panels that allow this boot to be so well balanced, the unique cleat layout grips on virtually any type of terrain and is very easy to clean.
These are robust, rugged stalking boots that come with a highly regarded pedigree. He Aigle Stalker WP Boots cost around £85 and are available in size 7 – 11UK. For your nearest stockist, contact John Rothery Wholesale on 01730 268011 or visit the website at www.bisley-uk.com.
