Pinewood High Hunter’s Boots

Pinewood High Hunter’s Boots

Most hunters often have more than one pair of boots to account for season, weather and terrain; I know I do! So what’s so special about the footwear on test? Manufactured and imported from Pinewood, an established Swedish company specialising in outdoors wear, the High Leg Hunter stands 10 ½” high from sole to cuff and the design oozes quality due to the generous amount of high grade leather used for the upper and the lay-out of the heavy-duty synthetic rubber toe and heel protection.

Insane in the Membrane…

There’s an Achilles heel flex-panel, ideally positioned at the rear for wearer comfort, and though pretty much the norm on many quality boots of this type, you really do appreciate this feature on longer treks. Internally, there’s a waterproof membrane known as Aqua-Dry that keeps water out yet is breathable to wick moisture away from your foot. Add in a 200-gram Thinsulate liner and you have good thermal protection for the colder weather. In conjunction with modern, high quality socks; which are a must these days, will give you near year-round footwear. These build features combine to give a light yet strong and practical design that you can really walk in; even long distance.

The boots have a wide throat so making them easy to get in and out of unlaced, which is always a bonus. The wide leather tongue has integral articulating synthetic side panels that allow it to always be attached to the boot and therefore offer an ultimate level of protection from the elements. The strong ‘rot-proof’ laces utilise five pairs of captive ‘D’ rings and five more open speed hooks for fast lacing. The cuff shows extra padding at the rear and sides for added comfort and easy of putting on and taking off.

All-terrain, All-grip

All seams are double stitched and bonded. The company’s ‘Comfort-Flex’ rubber sole is interesting as it uses deep, horizontal ridges running across the boot, interspersed with flush, semi-clover leaf shaped lugs. This results in the sole being light, yet has a deep ‘tread’ pattern with an abbreviated mid-sole.

Rugged, robust, deceptively light for the conditions they’ll encounter, well built with unique soles that offer a surprisingly good grip on a variety of surfaces. The Pinewood High Hunter Boots could be just what you’re looking for.

For: An efficient and technical design at pretty good money
