With so many brands of hi-tech footwear available we tend to forget that many shooters, certainly a high proportion of wildfowlers, are more than happy with a good quality sensibly priced welly boot.

Basically most who wear wellingtons require them to be comfortable to wear, waterproof and offer good grip on muddy and wet terrain. If this is the type of footwear that you require then the Countryman Wellington Boots from Jack Pyke are easily capable to fit that bill without breaking the bank.

The ‘wellies’ are made from lightweight, flexible high density rubber that’s lined with 4mm sponge neoprene and feature an extra cushioned sole maximizing wearer comfort. They stand 16 ¼” high and also have an adjustable ABS buckle fastener and gusset to tailor the boots to fit your upper calves. Also, these ‘retaining’ straps are very useful for the times you can get caught out in deep mud so you can walk through or pull a slightly overly deep footfall out of the mire without your foot coming out of the boot. Now that’s something a lot of hunters can relate to. The soles are full rubber with bold quite aggressive cleats, being strong, rigid and giving a good firm grip for extra foot support and therefore allowing the boots to feel much more comfortable as you walk.
