Browning Hells Canyon Gloves

Jules Whicker gets to grips with Browning Hell’s Canyon Gloves

story continues below...

These new gloves from Browning are the best cold-weather gloves I’ve tried so far. True, they’re not designed for extreme cold, but for normal UK winter temperatures they’re about perfect. The brushed outer material is water and wind-resistant as well as being both soft and quiet, and is bonded to an antibacterial Odorsmart lining that helps contain scent and wicks away perspiration. Meanwhile, the ample elasticated fleece cuffs are comfortably snug to keep out draughts and drips, and the skeletonised reinforced contact areas and friction ridges on the palms, fingers and thumb provide grip and toughness without restricting movement.

In fact for me the stand-out quality of these Hell’s Canyon gloves is their excellent balance of insulation and dexterity. They come in loden green and Mossy Oak Infinity camo, in four sizes (S, M, L, XL), and feature an effective but unobtrusive snap connector so you can clip them together between uses to prevent separation and minimise the risk of losing one: a favourite trick of mine! With a recommended price of £29, I reckon they’re very good value too – available from all most Browning stockists.
