Cut with plenty of room for freedom of movement, the Pennine Jacket is made from a microfibre polyester “Aquastop” breathable waterproof outer fabric and is lined with a fine soft mesh polyester in the body to aid moisture control There is nylon taffeta lining in the arms, to avoid inner garments “hanging up”, and in the lower body as well.
The fully lined hood has a Velcro tab type volume adjuster, wired peak and an elasticated, locking, front drawcord with captive ends; these can either be rolled away into the hood when not in use, or zipped off completely.
The collar is cut high to protect neck and lower face, while the full-length, double ended zip has twin storm flaps which fasten with Velcro tabs and also press studs at each end. Behind the main zip there is an “interactive” zip allowing you a fleece jacket to be attached in cooler conditions, and a fleece backed zip guard. Under the outer storm flap there is well-sized, zip-closed “Napoleon” pocket on the left chest for valuables, maps etc.
The two lower front pockets have zip closures as well as deep storm flaps, while inside the left chest there is a pocket with a vertical zip closure and an aperture for MP3 headphone leads etc.
The raglan style sleeves have semi-elasticated cuffs with Velcro tab adjustment and there are elasticated locking drawcords with captive ends at waist and hem. The waist adjusters are inside the jacket and there are hem “one hand” operation adjusters at the side seam, so there are no awkward “dangly” bits to get in the way.
A functional, practical, no frills, fairly quiet to wear jacket, the Pennine comes in sizes S-XXL in colours Navy Blue/Black and Forest/Dark Olive and is competitively priced at an affordable £55.
A jacket that is basic, looks good and does the job without fuss, the Pennine is one of Wynnster’s top selling garments – and I can see why!
