New NYCO

The range is manufactured from a new material called Nyco with a bonded TPU membrane, which is a 50/50, Nylon/cotton mix. The Nylon adds strength and abrasion resistance, while the cotton gives breathability and moisture absorption. It’s rated as being 5000mm waterproof and 3000 G/M2 for breathability. Suffice to say, the Ashcombe is good for all weather conditions you’d expect of this level of clothing.

All garments look stylish in olive brown, plus they have a checked inner lining. The outer is soft to the touch and quiet in use, while most zips have pull assist tags and where press stud fastenings are used they’re generously sized and weather-resistant.

The jacket has a full-length, double-ended zip with a press studded storm cover. For stowage, there are 2x large bellows pockets with press studded flaps. There are 2x zipped and large handwarmer pockets above, and an upper outer left breast zipped pocket for a radio. There’s also an inner top left zip fastened pocket.

 

Good hood

The removable/concealed hood is stored in the high stand up collar, it’s generously sized and features a wired peak and Velcro adjusters. The cuffs have Velcro straps and there are elasticated draw cords at the hood, waist and hem. Useful for shotgunners is the main pocket flaps can be held open by retaining strap, making it easy to get your ammo.

The trousers differ, as they have a green, nylon-based upper section with the brown Nyco outer clearly seen to meet it at the mid-thigh at the front and upper calf area at the rear. A clever design that allows sitting on wet grass, yet extra wear resistance and breathability is given at key areas needed for walking and kneeling etc.

There’s an extended height, semi-elasticated waist with grip band at the rear and wide belt loops with a front top button fastening with zip fly. They have 2x upper zipped pockets, rear zipped pocket and 1x lower side cargo pocket. They’re mesh-lined for comfort and at the bottom of the legs extra internal waterproofing can be seen.

 

Complimentary

An ideal complement is the fitted/ quilted gilet with ribbed outer detail and a full-length front zip fastening. There are 2x lower handwarmer zipped pockets, plus high stand up padded collar. It’s a stylish, contoured design and useful to wear. The standard flat cap (5 sizes) will finish off the traditional look, while the panelled baseball cap with rear size adjuster is always a winner!
