Jahti Jakt Kero Premium Hunting Suit

Jahti Jakt has become a brand name synonymous with top-quality outdoor wear both for clothing and footwear. The hunting suits they produce all incorporate tried and tested materials, with each different model being designed to be particularly suited to a certain type of hunting activity or season.

Here featured is the Kero Premium, a lightweight feature packed hunting suit combination primarily designed for the active hunter. Like other suits in the range it comes with a comprehensive ‘bonus pack’ of goodies but we’ll come to these later as first I’ll detail the two- piece ‘Kero’ itself. Built upon a 100% Polyester base, both jacket and trousers have an ‘AIR-TEX 2’ membrane laminated onto the surface affording them to be fully waterproof, windproof and breathable. Being on the outside also prevents the jacket becoming heavier when it rains as it doesn’t hold water, plus the outer shell is Teflon-treated, adding to the material’s dirt and water repellent properties. Also SCENTECH (a brand name ‘odour blocker’) is impregnated into the garments which are both mesh-lined affording even more inner moisture transfer and breathability. Even with all these ‘weather-proofing’ treatments the outer fabric still has a ‘soft touch’ feel and is rustle-free.

From Zero to Kero

The Kero has a shorter length design jacket allowing for more freedom of movement and boasts two large cargo pockets with press-stud overflaps, with lined handwarmer pockets set behind both. Above these are two zip fastening pockets with protective flaps and above these are a further two self-seal design zip fasten horizontal pockets. It also features underarm zippered inner mesh lined air vents.

On the inside there are two mesh pockets in the jacket lining and a left breast zip closure pocket with extra waterproofing, so ideal for documents such as your FAC or shoot permission. All is completed with the addition of a very roomy, detachable, peaked, wired top hood with toggle adjust drawstrings. If you’re wearing the coat in the warmer months then you can detach the hood and use the mosquito net that uses the same press-stud attachment points to secure it in place. The front fastening consists of a heavy duty all-weather double zipper with a full press-stud down storm flap, not forgetting the adjustable hem line plus high storm collar with corduroy inner. The pre-shaped sleeves have elasticated cuffs with adjustable Velcro strap fasteners for cinching around the wrists.

The trousers are similarly well-featured having two deep handwarmer pockets, two press-stud down cargo pockets with overflaps on either leg and a press-stud fasten pocket at the rear.

For heat regulation, the trousers have zip close vertical air vents found to the side and just rear of each of the handwarmer pockets.

The lower section of each leg has a well-positioned Velcro strap to cinch around any height of field boot and offers a very generous level of adjustment. They feature a part-elasticated high back waistband with belt loops and buttons for braces. A zip fly is met at the top by a thick, generous wide strip of double sided Velcro. For an even more tailored fit quite lengthy Velcro strap adjusters are also incorporated into both sides of the waistband.

Added Extras

Now to the bonus-pack which includes Scentech MicroDry Underwear, Braces, Fleece Jacket and Cap. The two- piece underwear is snug- fitting yet stretchy and has elasticated ribbed cuffs with thumb holes, while the bottoms are elasticated at the waist and ankles.

The inclusion of the Jahti Jakt Riekko Fleece Jacket is a very thoughtful bonus as it’s a very good-quality standalone garment in its own right, with four zip-fasten pockets, including two handwarmer pockets, a left breast pocket and a zip fasten pocket on the left sleeve. It’s also elasticated at the wrists, has a drawcord bottom and there are even two deep open top pockets on the inner.

The one-size-fits-all baseball style cap with drop down earflaps is waterproof and also reversible to show ‘hunter orange’, which in some countries (other than ours) is compulsory.

I can find absolutely no fault with any of the garments, including those in the bonus- pack, and if you require lightweight, strong and durable active wear that offers a very high level of protection from the elements then the Jahti Jakt Kero Premium Hunting Suit will fit the bill perfectly.
