The Condor Convoy is a 22-litre backpack with a very clever layout consisting of five compartments, which all have direct external access via their own zips. This means that you can ‘compartmentalise’ your gear and have quick and easy access to each item in its own secure space. All of the spaces are nicely squared off, so regular-shaped gear fits better, plus you can maximise the amount of stuff you can fit in.
The main compartment has a padded sleeve in the back that’s intended for a laptop or tablet. There are two decent-sized zippered mesh pockets in the front and a large main space with plenty of room for spare clothing, food and drink.
The top/front compartment is a very well equipped admin organiser, with more inner sleeves and pen slots than you could ever need. Also included is a small carabiner to secure your keys and two elasticated bungees to securely hold small items. It’s an ideal space for holding your tools and a small cleaning kit. On the front of this compartment is an expandable outer pocket that’s accessible via a vertical zip on one side, and it is perfect for holding documents safely.
The bottom/front compartment has three mesh pockets - a large one with a zip and two smaller ones with elasticated tops, so an ideal place to keep a first aid kit. With a fully openable front, the contents can be seen and accessed quickly and easily.
The two zippered side pockets are a great feature and a bit unusual, as pockets in this location on most backpacks are open-topped and just elasticated. They are square and a good size, plus the fact they can be zipped up means that you can stow expensive and vulnerable gear or even ammunition, which can then be accessed quickly, without having to root through a shared compartment.
Externally, the zips are high quality and all sit under large storm flaps to keep the rain out. They feature glovefriendly pulls and function smoothly and quietly. The back of the pack and the shoulder straps are well padded for comfort and ventilation, plus both a sternum strap and a removable waistband are provided. Compression straps are provided to help secure the load in place and there is even a padded and insulated hydration bladder slot in the back. In addition to all of the above, there are plenty of additional attachment points, drainage holes in all compartments and three strong carry handles (one on top and one on either side). Overall, a great quality backpack that’s very practical.
