The Quantum Jacket is a modern ‘softshell’ jacket made from ‘AirXstream Advanced’ fabric, which combines an outer woven stretch material treated with a durable water-repellent finish and then bonded to a hydrophilic membrane, and an “Air Channel Matrix” lining. This lining is like squares of micro fleece that give an increased air gap and increased wicking, reducing condensation without restricting freedom of movement.
This jacket has two-way stretch, is weather and windproof, gives great ventilation and good freedom of movement. The cut is quite snug, but the stretch in the fabric means that it is not constrictive. The styling is hip length with a shock cord drawstring and one-handed locking adjustment at the sides. The rear hem is scooped for extra protection. The high cut adjustably snug collar conceals a snug fitting hood with an elasticated front hem and shock cord volume adjuster. The sleeves have a raglan yoke, shaped elbows and Velcro tab adjusted cuffs. The front has a full-length double-ended zip with a storm baffle, while the side seams have generous, jetted, ventilation zips for extra air flow. There are two lower front vertical zip-closed hand-warmer pockets and, on the upper left front, a vertically zipped pocket is conveniently placed for valuables. All the seams are tape sealed and the quality of construction is excellent.
While some ‘soft shell’ jackets sacrifice a degree of waterproofing for extra comfort and breathability, the Quantum has proved almost totally rain beating, as well as being comfortable and virtually condensation free.
Tough, weather beating, comfortable, smart and practical, the Keela Quantum Jacket comes in black and olive colours, sizes XS-XXL and costs around £99.95.
