Made in Northern Sweden, the Woolpower Thermal Clothing is designed and made where good clothing can be the difference between life and death!
The Full Zip Jacket 400 I have been testing is made from a 400gm2 blend of 69% merino Wool, 29% Polyamide and 2% Elastane, knitted into a fairly loose knit fabric with “terry” loops on the inner face. This creates lots of pockets that trap still air for great insulation.
The fabric is very hard wearing, odour resistant, naturally flame resistant, wicks well, keeps its shape well and is very comfortable next to the skin – unlike old style woolly undergarments. The Woolpower fabric can be machine washed at up to 60 degrees C, but as wool is naturally odour resistant, you can wear it for long periods between washes with negligible odour build-up!
Woolpower make garments of lighter and heavier grades and the Full Zip Jacket is intended as a mid layer, worn (preferably) over their 200gm2 base layer, such as the Crewneck 200. The jacket has a high, snug-fitting, double-layer collar, a very deep scooped back hem, double thick cuffs with thumb holes that can be worn like fingerless mitts, and a full-length front zip that allows good venting which, because the jacket is very warm to wear, is almost essential!
Very comfortable and easy to wear, practical and free from all gimmicks, the Woolpower Full Zip Jacket 400 is environmentally friendly as its main ingredient is wool – a natural and renewable product – and ideal for use over a range of cold-weather activities. Woolpower clothing is favoured by military units from several countries.
Available in sizes XS – XXXL in Green, Blue, Grey or Black, the Woolpower Full Zip Jacket costs around £80.
