Viper Tactical New Kit

Viper Tactical New Kit

It’s got to be said that 2015 was a huge year for the guys at VIPER!

Last year saw them showcasing a whole new range of clothing, gear and packs, all based around their own ‘V-Cam’ camo pattern and I have to admit that I was gobsmacked when I visited their Bedfordshire showrooms and saw the range in its entirety; they’ve always offered a pretty solid line of well-priced tactical kit but this was an entire head to toe range with new designs, updates to old ones, and additions where there had been gaps. I reported on this at the time and I’ve been very pleased to hear that many of you out there have been using VIPER gear and enjoying it as much as I have.

Plain and simple

One of the comments I made to them at the time of the initial product launch though was that I hoped they would bring out some of the designs in plain colours; personally I try to avoid camouflage gear when I’m range testing for RIF reviews or going to practical shoots, so well-designed, well-priced plain colours are always welcome. Thankfully, VIPER have recently released many of their popular styles, especially in relation to clothing, in plain Black, OD Green, and Coyote Tan, so that we can all make the most of their great designs without looking overtly ‘military’.

A couple of items have really got my attention for ‘everyday’ use; the first is the Warrior Shirt priced at £39.95. This is VIPER’s take on the classic combat shirt and is made from Rip-stop PolyCotton in the sleeves, yoke and collar, with elasticated V-Flex in the torso area. This is quite generously cut and very comfortable to wear all day long, and the sleeve lengths are nigh on perfect. It has reinforced elbow pads (removable) and two angled sleeve utility pockets with Velcro ID panels for your team or morale patches.

To go along with the shirt I opted for a simple pair of BDU Trousers at £24.95; again these are classic BDU style tactical trousers with total of six pockets including two regular hand pockets, two buttoned back pockets, and two expandable, deep cargo pockets, button fly, side waist adjusters and drawstring legs. They’re made from a durable and breathable Rip-Stop PolyCotton material (60% Polyester Ripstop/40% Cotton) and have a reinforced seat and knee patches.

Great value kit!

Both garments are very keenly priced and do the job they were intended for very well indeed; I’ve been using them on pretty much a daily basis since I picked them up in the autumn and even after hard use they are holding together really well, with no obvious signs of damage or degradation. They’ve been through regular washes, nothing fancy, and the colour fastness is excellent; the body of the Warrior Shirt is showing very little sign of pilling, which is a common problem with fabrics like the V-Flex. Thus far they fall firmly into the ‘money well spent’ category; not only have they performed and stood up to abuse well, but they’re both darn comfy to wear all day too!
