Opticron has been supplying optical products to the photographic and specialist optical trade for nearly 40 years. It products are designed and engineered in partnership with a small number of Japan’s elite optical manufacturers, and they are now, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of specialist binoculars and telescopes.
Their 2009 range of full size roof prism binoculars includes the new Trailfinder II WP which is available in a black or dark green finish and in either 8x or 10x magnifications. Both models have nitrogen waterproofing and long eye-relief.
The optical system is fully multi-coated with BaK-4 prisms and phase correction. The field of view is 7.2° (8x) or 6.5° (10x) and the lightweight magnesium alloy body is protected by a durable textured rubber covering. The wide angle eyepieces on the 10x42 model make the Trailfinder II quick to set-up for both long range and close-up viewing. Long eye-relief means the binoculars can be used in comfort by spectacle wearers. Minimum focus distance is just 1.5 metres making these field glasses ideal for observing insects or butterflies when enjoying the great British countryside. The sturdy internal focussing system, waterproofing and new lightweight body help create field glasses that are comfortable and easy to use in all weathers.
Trailfinder II binoculars are supplied with a soft carry case, rainguard, padded neck strap, soft lens cleaning cloth and an easy to understand user guide. The binoculars are covered by a 5 year guarantee with full parts and labour cover for the first 2 years. Full terms of the guarantee are available on the company’s website.
The Trailfinder II in 8x42 is priced at £119 and the 10x42 model is £129 – both prices include VAT.
