SeeAll Sight

SeeAll Sight

Every now and again you come across a gamechanging sight, this is such a sight. The SeeAll sight is of course from the good old USA; the shooting market is much bigger there and the drive for new bits of kit even greater. It is now available over here via Wentworth Sporting Supplies. I looked at the sight some months ago on the internet and was very, very pleased to see it now over here. On getting my hands on one, I was amazed at the size and lightness of the sight. It’s Basically a hybrid between an open and optical sight, it has a magnifying lens at the rear and a light gathering green element at the front, onto which a black triangular aiming post is positioned. Additional to this is a pair of horizontal lines, one either side of the point of the triangle, to aid vertical alignment of the black triangle. These thin out and come to a point on the tip of the triangle. You can shoot the sight with one or both eyes open and it’s hard to explain to anyone who has not used the sight just how clear it is. When your head is in the correct position, the bright green element and the bold black triangle snap into focus. The target too is in focus, not something you will find with the more traditional front post and rear notch open sights, either the target or the front post is perfectly in focus, not both. The SeeAll sight is just that, you see all—the aiming element and the target.

The construction of the sight is very robust, the single piece extruded chassis has a Picatinny rail female section under the base; this slides over any 20mm/Weaver/Picatinny style rail. There are two Allen screws on the centerline of the sight some 10mm apart, these are used to clamp the sight onto the intended rail of whatever gun you wish to mount it upon. Oversight Shooting Technologies, the makers of the SeeAll sight, include a 5/64 Allen key for the two clamping screws. They also include a 1/16 Allen key, this is to adjust the impact point of the sight. The elevation screw is on the centerline in front of the green element, the windage screw is on the right hand side of the sight body. As a guide, a 1/16 of a turn moves the impact point (25mm) 1-inch at 100-yards. In the very good colour instruction booklet they make a point of mentioning not to remove the adjustment screws. There are 45-inches of vertical adjustment and 75-inches of windage adjustment available at 100-yards, so it has a lot of adjustment available, you shouldn’t run out. In a nutshell do not undo the elevation screw more than three turns and the windage more than four turns.

Set Sights

Being so small, the sight fits anything, and I mean anything – Pistol, Rifle or Shotgun, the sight has no fixed eye relief either. I fitted it to my GSG-5 .22 rimfire, my Benelli pump action 12-gauge shotgun and even my Weihrauch 45 .177 spring powered air pistol. The air pistol has an 11mm sight rail, so I fitted an adaptor/ riser. You may need a 20mm riser for AR type rifles, I didn’t need it for the GSG or Benelli shotgun. In use, your eye does not have to be dead centre, as it is a single element design your projectile will strike just above the tip of the triangle, presuming that you have zeroed and adjusted the sight correctly. As a tip, if you get your head too high you will see green above the triangle.

The two black lines help greatly with the correct alignment. It is totally different to open sights or optical red dot type sights, it is unique. Being so light, the sight is less affected by recoil, be it a shotgun firing slug or a spring powered airgun, it will not affect the zero or integrity of the sight.

Both of these types of gun have fierce recoil characteristics and are sight eaters. The sight is perfect for new shooters, as it is easier to use than two element open sights, which need lining up and are not the easiest to use when starting out. Older shooters with eyesight issues have found the SeeAll of benefit too.

Overall, I was as impressed with the SeeAll at the end as I was in the beginning. It can truly be fitted to any type of weapon, even crossbows and black powder weapons. I liked it best on the pistol but it worked on anything and everything I put it upon. Now at least there is a choice between open and optical sights and red dots. It is very well made and very, very easy to use. Well done to Wentworth for making it available to UK shooters.
