Sightmark optics

When I heard that Scott Country would be bringing US optics brand Sightmark to the UK, I was keen to discover more. I recently met with representatives of Sightmark at the recent IWA trade show in Germany and I was very impressed with the range they offered and their enthusiasm for their products. They have everything from micro red dots, magnifiers, prismatic weapons sights to short and long range telescopic sights and spotting scopes.

Rapid AR 1-4 X 20

I had a good look at several optics and I was really taken by the neat little Rapid AR 1-4x20 compact second focal plane optic that looks perfect for a spot of Civilian Service Rifle (CSR) shooting, as it’s built specifically for .223 calibre modern sporting rifles. It has all the features needed, a nitrogen-filled, IP67 waterproof, shock proof and fog proof 30mm tube, an ‘SHR-223’ finely etched reticle, complete with red-illumination and calibrated lines for .223 bullet drop compensation, 10 reticle illumination brightness settings, 4.5-inch eye relief, advanced, fully-multicoated, scratch resistant lens system, an easy-to-focus rapid power rotation eyepiece and exposed pop-up locking turrets deliver precise ½-inch per click windage and elevation adjustments.

Citadel 1-6x24

Offering a wide magnification range for close to midrange shooting, the Citadel 1-6x24 combines impressive performance with a stealthy appearance. The Citadel 1-6x features a second focal plane BDC reticle calibrated for 55gr 5.56/.223, red reticle illumination for contrast against targets and low light shooting and fully multi-coated optics. Capped, low profile turrets protect zero and add to the Citadel’s no- nonsense, subdued appearance. A single-piece, 30mm tube and aircraft grade aluminum construction make the Citadel extremely durable and IP67 waterproof. Ideal for a variety of firearms, including ARs and bolt actions rifles, the Citadel 1-6x24 CR1 includes flip up lens caps, a handy throw lever and one CR2032 battery.

Pinnacle 1-6X24 TMD

Engineered with Sightmark’s Triple Duty™ concept, the 1-6x24TMD features a Tactical Mil-Dash first focal plane reticle for rangefinding and quick target acquisition in competition, tactical or hunting scenarios. Precision-machined with high definition optics and premium Japanese glass, the Pinnacle 1-6x24TMD offers crystal-clear resolution from edge to edge, free from distortions at any magnification. The red/green illuminated reticle remains in the same visual proportion to the target across the riflescope’s entire magnification range, allowing shooters to rangefind and shoot with holdovers at any magnification effectively. Its true 1x provides both-eyes-open usage for increased situational awareness at close range, while the 6x optical system hones in on far-away targets with ease. The device includes fully adjustable ballistic-tested BDC dials for both 5.56x45 55gr and 7.62x51 180gr loads. The riflescope boasts constant eye relief and a 6:1 zoom ratio for long-range shots, a wide field of view and five brightness settings for unmatched clarity in bright to lowlight conditions. Waterproof, fog proof and shock proof, it is fully submergible to 1m of water. Shooters have the luxury of a capped or exposed turret option as well as scratch-resistant lenses, helping to further protect the optic from impact.

I’ve been promised examples of the above to look at in the future, but the following turned up via courier a couple of weeks ago to test. Unfortunately, I’ve not been well recently, so that will have to wait a while but here’s what was in that box!

Mini Shot Reflex Sight

Lightweight and extremely accurate for its miniature size, the Mini Shot is the most compact in the Sightmark reflex sight line. Featuring a 3MOA illuminated red dot reticle, the Mini Shot’s unique size makes it perfect for use with handguns and shotguns, and I’ve used it on a Weihrauch HW44 PCP pistol and it was spot on. These sights can be used for target shooting, mini rifle competitions or good oldfashioned plinking. The Mini Shot is equipped with a topmounted, low-profile ON/ OFF switch for easy activation for right- and left-handed shooters, and comes standard with a removable weaver mount, with additional weapon mounts sold separately.

Wolverine FSR 1x28

Designed for short-range engagements and quick target acquisition, the Wolverine FSR 1x28 is a durable red dot optic with a 2MOA dot reticle. The Wolverine’s extremely low power consumption delivers an incredible 1000,000-hours’ battery life on low and sixyears continuous use on setting six from just a single AA battery housed on the left of the body. Rubber armored and constructed of a single piece of 6061-T6 aluminum, the Wolverine is waterproof, fogproof and shockproof. Glass is protected by a scratch resistant, anti-reflective lens coatings. All Wolverines have night vision modes, making them compatible with night vision devices. The FSR has ergonomic digital switch controls, making it quick and easy to operate when seconds count. Wolverine FSRs include: a rubber lens cover, Picatinny mount and riser for absolute co-witness.

Sightmark Ultra Shot Plus Reflex Sight

One of the most critical elements of close quarter shooting is quick target acquisition, a staplefeature of the Sightmark Ultra Shot Plus Reflex Sight.
